How QuestBoard works

A choice board is a 3×3 (or 4×4) menu of activities that all target the same standard. Students pick a set number of tiles, often "one of each color" or "any three in a row." You keep rigor high while giving kids agency over how they show what they know.

Fill in grade, subject, and topic, choose your DOK levels, pick a theme, and generate. Every tile comes with directions, a success checklist, and a matching student work page.

A WebQuest is a guided inquiry that moves students through stages, hook, investigate, analyze, create. Great for research-heavy units. (Generator coming soon, the guidance below applies as soon as it ships.)

A Socratic seminar is a structured discussion around a rich text. QuestBoard drafts opening, guiding, and closing questions plus sentence frames so quieter students can jump in. (Generator coming soon.)

DOK (Depth of Knowledge) is a way of describing how much thinking a task requires:

• DOK 1, Recall. Name, list, define. "List three character traits."
• DOK 2, Apply / explain. Summarize, compare, use a skill. "Explain how the setting shapes the mood."
• DOK 3, Create / argue. Justify with evidence, design something new. "Argue whether Ponyboy changes, cite three moments."

QuestBoard labels each tile with its DOK level, so you can require e.g. "one DOK 1, one DOK 2, one DOK 3" and be confident every student is thinking deeply.

If you pair a content standard with an ELD standard from the picker, the generator builds language scaffolds targeted to that ELD standard, sentence frames use the exact language function (justifying, comparing, negotiating), and "How to succeed" tips call it out by name.

This is integrated ELD: same rigorous content, with the language moves multilingual learners need woven directly into the task.

Every activity has a "Step-by-step view" button. Same standard. Same DOK level. Same deliverable. What changes:

• Directions become 3-5 numbered steps with icons and bolded action verbs.
• A short word bank of key vocabulary.
• An example starter students can imitate.
• A simplified checklist in student-friendly words.

The Supported View is available to every student, no labels, no separate assignments. Kids who need it click it; kids who don't, don't. Print layouts are identical at a glance across the room.

From any saved activity, open Print student packet. Pick which tiles to include (or all 9), and choose:

• Standard directions, the default.
• Step-by-step directions, the Supported View version.
• Both, step-by-step prints on the back of each page.

Everything comes out as one PDF: a cover page with the board and directions, then a Work Page for each activity. One download, one print job, done Sunday night.

Every saved activity has a share link. Students open it and see a clean student view, no teacher notes, no answer hints. Two ways to use it:

• One shared board. Post the link to Classroom as "Material." Students pick their tiles and turn in their work page (printed or a photo).
• Individual assignments. Use Copy work page on a single tile to paste it into a Classroom assignment with "Make a copy for each student." Each kid gets their own editable template.

Are my uploaded materials stored?

No. Files you drop into "Start from your materials" are used only for that one generation and are never saved.

Can I edit the generated activities?

Yes, save it, then edit in your library. You can also regenerate with the same inputs if a tile doesn't land.

What if my standard isn't in the picker?

Click "My standard isn't listed, paste it instead" under the picker. Pasted standards work exactly like picked ones.

Can students see my teacher notes?

Never. Student preview and share links strip teacher notes, DOK labels, and any "Based on: filename" attribution.
